World Book Day
World Book Day is a celebration! It’s a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading. In fact, it’s the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world.
All the children enjoyed celebrating our World Book Day. There were some very interesting costumes on display! Many children shared their favourite book and characters during our assembly. Staff also shared their love of books. A special mention goes to Miss Pett, dressed as Betty Barley (the children thought she looked less scary without the hat!). What an original and inventive costume Miss Pett!
Our World Book Day celebrations were then followed by our regular Scholastic Book Fair. Here the children chose to purchase books which interest and excite them. Remember to join and support your local library. Keep reading!
