The Mount Sports Hall & Theatre Grand Opening
On Saturday, Councillor Peter Scott officially opened ‘The Mount Sports Hall and Theatre’ at our Open Day. The new facilities include a fully equipped multipurpose sports hall/theatre with state of the art lighting and sound systems, music rooms and an extension to the Mount Day Nursery.
Our thanks go to Parry Davies Architects, designers of the new buildings, and to Heath Gizzi and team who have constructed this great addition to Fairholme to such a high standard.
This exciting new development is very much about partnership:
· Partnership with the pupils – providing the children with the best possible environment for their learning through a superb indoor sports and drama facility which enhances our already huge range of enrichment opportunities.
· Partnership with parents and friends of the school – providing the opportunity to invite parents in to the school on a regular basis, not just for large events but also to see their children taking part in smaller events – open lessons and special assemblies throughout the year and;
· Partnership with the community which will be further developed through providing a local venue that can be hired for sports and fitness, drama and presentation/conference events.
Following the Councillor’s official opening, the children sang one of our favourite songs, ‘The Caucus Race’ from ‘Alice in Wonderland’ as a celebration on this special day. Many visitors then toured the school, with the able assistance of Forms VI and VII, and even joined the children in the afternoon in an impromptu badminton session in the new sports hall!
