Nutritional Coding
Form V pupils have taken part in some very interesting block coding work in ICT lessons; they have each designed a game app to promote healthy eating.
Using their understanding of conditional events and variables, the children have each coded their game with quite complex scoring systems, each child attributing their chosen scores to various foods, most deciding to use high scores for fruit and vegetables and low (or negative scores) for burgers, chips and ice cream! When playing the final game, Scrap, the dog, must travel across the table eating as healthily as possible.
Pupils are not only learning to think logically to produce the correct code, but are also demonstrating their knowledge of nutritional value!
