Jubilee Poems
Just before the half-term break, the children were engaged in poetry writing activities to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The collection of poems, which has now been published, provides a personal and special record of this important event. Our poems reflect some of the children’s thoughts on the Queen’s contribution to our country during her sixty year reign and the excitement of the Jubilee celebrations which have now taken place.
Many styles of poetry were selected for the children including freeform, haiku, kenning and acrostic. Our aim was to involve as many children as possible and so all the children from Form I upwards contributed to the book and the older members of Kindergarten produced drawings of the Queen for the book cover. Our thanks go to all the children for their efforts and to the staff for their encouragement and guidance. If anyone would still like to order a copy of our Jubilee book, please let me know.
