From Fairholme to France
One of the highlights of last year’s Summer Term was, of course, the balloon race on Sports Day. This year, our balloons made it much further than in previous years. Well done to Emilia, whose balloon made it into third place and was found in Kent, Matthew and Owain, whose balloon made it across the Channel to Calais and William and Amelia, owners of the winning balloon, which made it to Avesnes Le Comte. William and Amelia received a lovely letter, in French, describing where and when the balloon was found. Some of our budding French students were able to translate the greeting and the date and deciphered that the balloon was found in a World War I War Cemetery. I wonder which of the balloons it was!
