Choosing Chopsticks!
Chinese New Year was celebrated in style this year with the latest in our series of Open Assemblies. Each Form led a part of the assembly; which was both entertaining and informative. It included a dragon drama, dancing lions, a play about how the years received their animal names, a Chinese fan dance, and information on this year, 2019, the Year of the Pig.
Following this event, pupils and staff alike had great fun at our Chinese themed lunch where we were given the opportunity to try out sweet and sour chicken and vegetable chow mein, all eaten with chopsticks. The Delicious meal was rounded off with snowflake cakes and fortune cookies.
Meanwhile, ‘Clay Club’ have been busy making dragon faces to celebrate Chinese New Year. The children have learnt how to shape and mould the clay. They have added some good detail using a variety of shapes and colours of paint!
