A Special Kind of Christmas
This year has indeed been a special time. We felt it was very important to continue our traditional Christmas celebrations, albeit amid copious amounts of hand-washing and separation of contact groups. We have, of course, missed inviting parents into school to share in our celebrations, but have very much enjoyed preparing videos for two Christmas plays and our usual Carol Service.
Red and Yellow contact groups joined forces to bring together our version of ‘A Christmas Carol’, the story of the miser, Scrooge, who reluctantly comes to celebrate Christmas after visits from three spirits as well as his old business partner. The children’s acting, mime, dance and singing skills were much in evidence and greatly enjoyed by their online audience.
Blue and Yellow groups contributed to the Russian Christmas story, 'Babushka'. Mrs. Turner and her team had a hectic time preparing a play, with Russian songs and dance. The characters included the three wise men who brought to life the famous TS Elliot poem, 'The Coming of the Magi', the Angel Gabriel and all the nativity characters as well as Babushka herself and a pantomime camel. Suffice to say, a great time was had by all.
Unable to gather at the Cathedral this year, our Carol Service included a wide range of carols from each Form and the inspirational Christmas readings, beautifully delivered by Form VII at our simulated Cathedral setting.
If anyone has missed any of our Christmas events, please ask school for the relevant links. We share these solely within our Fairholme family.
